Certified Quality

Der Blaue Engel

Blue Angel

As the first worldwide acknowledged ecolabel, the Blue Angel (Blauer Engel) is awarded for environmentally friendly products. By strictly using 100% recycled paper, we contribute to the protection of the world's natural resources. This guarantees a high degree of environmental friendliness of our products.

FSC

Forest Stewardship Council

Every type of wood that is used in the production process of our compostable paper bags originates from responsibly managed forests in Europe. This is certified by the internationally accredited FSC label. The FSC label signifies sustainable forestry and an economically viable management of the world's forest resources.

Kompostierbarkeitzeichen

Compostable Logo

The Compostable Logo (Kompostierbarkeitszeichen) is based on the criteria of the European Norm DIN EN 13432. It confirms that our paper bags are completely suitable for composting. Through a natural degradation process, our paper bags disintegrate after a few weeks solely into biomass, carbon dioxide, and water.

Why don't we sell products based on bioplastics?

We are often asked by interested customers why we don’t sell compostable bags made of “bioplastics”, i.e. based on corn starch. As one of the first companies on the German market for biodegradable packaging solutions, we have taken a clear stance on this subject.

We distribute only products that comply with our sustainability policy. This implies that our compostable bags must be fully biodegradable within a short period of time and under natural conditions. They shall by no means impose an additional burden on our environment – neither in their production nor in their composting process.

Consequently, we exclusively sell organic waste bags made of compostable paper and do not distribute products based on bioplastics.

Bioplastics are often burned together with residual waste

Biodegradable plastic bags only degrade under very specific environmental conditions (i.e. a specific temperature or humidity). This degradation process takes considerably longer than the processing time of most composting facilities for conventional biowaste. As a consequence, many bioplastic bags are not being composted, but are instead separated from organic waste and burned together with residual waste in waste incineration plants.

Our paper bags are completely biodegradable

We are committed to a responsible and sustainable use of our planet’s resources. This is why we exclusively use recycled paper from FSC-certified European sources. Contrary to the production process of bioplastic bags, the manufacturing of our paper bags does not promote environmentally devastating monocultures in developing and emerging countries.

Our paper bags are fully compostable according to the European Norm DIN EN 13432. Within a few weeks, they naturally degrade together with their organic content – in home gardens as well as in commercial composting facilities. The only remains are natural, humus-forming raw materials: biomass, carbon dioxide, and water.
